Included in meaningful but safe amounts
Like most practitioner-grade supplements, we don’t include calcium and magnesium in our pregnancy formula. The large molecular size of these minerals makes it impossible to fit meaningful amounts into a single capsule.
In order to achieve the amounts of calcium and magnesium needed to support a healthy pregnancy, you’d have to take an additional 4-6 capsules per day of a separate calcium and magnesium supplement.
A lot of brands do include calcium and magnesium in token amounts to make their formula appear more complete. It goes against our ethos to include ingredients in token amounts, and it misleads the customer into thinking they’re covering their dietary intake needs.
In the US, the recommendation is to include calcium and magnesium in prenatals, however, the NHS recommendation is not to supplement unless you have an additional requirement. They believe that requirements can be met through diet.
However our view here at Inessa is that unless you’re a big dairy and greens eater, supplementation may be wise. For that reason, we do recommend adding a calcium and magnesium product on top, especially for vegans or those with absorption problems.

Our Pregnancy Multinutrient is safe for most women, but if you are taking prescribed medication, you should always consult your doctor prior to use.
Do not use our Pregnancy Multinutrient without the permission of your doctor. This is because it contains vitamin K2 which can interfere with blood thinners.
Nurture your body, nurture your baby with Inessa Pregnancy Multinutrient. This daily multivitamin and mineral contains everything you need to support your own nutritional status and your baby’s development, from pre-conception up to the first year of motherhood.
Providing nutritional support through all three trimesters of your pregnancy as well as while you’re breastfeeding, it uses evidence-based recommendations for optimal maternal nutrition. Our tailored blend of 25 ingredients includes:
– Natural folate in its superior, methylated form
– Non-constipating iron that’s gentle on digestion
– Methylated B-vitamins for better absorption
– B6 to help support morning sickness
– CoQ10 to support fertility and healthy pregnancy.
– An optimal dose of the often-deficient vitamin D3
– Iodine from natural kelp for healthy foetal brain development.
– Inositol to support conception
– Lutein and zeaxanthin to support your baby’s visual health and development.
Inessa Pregnancy Multinutrient is also one of the only pregnancy supplements in the UK to include a safe yet meaningful dose of choline. Known to support brain development in a growing foetus and found in food sources such as liver and egg yolks, it’s thought that around 90% of women aren’t getting enough choline through their diets.
Supplemental choline is recommended by the American Medical Association, with current US total daily intake guidelines of 450mg of choline during pregnancy and 550mg per day when breastfeeding. Yet here in the UK only a handful of companies include choline in their pregnancy supplements, most in token doses of 10 to 30mg, with only one other clinician brand using 200mg.
Inessa Pregnancy Multinutrient contains 250mg of choline per serving, the largest amount in UK products on the market, to give mums a significant starting base towards their daily intake through food.
Planning to conceive or already have a baby on board? A good supply of the right nutrients act like powerful building blocks for your bump. But because the body prioritises your growing baby’s needs first, both pregnancy and breastfeeding can leave your own nutritional stores at risk of depletion.
Eating a balanced diet can help you avoid any deficiencies at this precious time, supporting your own health and nurturing your little one’s growth and development. But even with our best intentions, cravings, nausea and those strange aversions caused by a heightened sense of smell can derail our attempts at healthy eating.
That’s why a good quality pregnancy supplement can be so helpful. Inessa Pregnancy Multinutrient contains all the essential building blocks healthy mamas need, ensuring a regular supply of the very best nutrients in their most absorbable forms. Safe and effective, taken daily it’s an easy, achievable way to fill any gaps in your diet, supporting optimal health for both of you.

Frequently asked questions
Yes it does, and we also use folate in its superior, methylated form. Many women aren’t able to metabolise their synthetic folic acid supplements into usable folate very well, which may impact their pregnancy. The L-5-MTHF form we use is molecularly identical to the natural form we derive from plant foods. It’s much easier for all women to use and so reduces any risks associated with poor conversion.
Yes, it’s 100% vegan and Vegan Society registered.
A healthy diet is the most important source of absorbable nutrients (as well as things like protein and fibre) and as such it should always be your number one priority. But with today’s on-the-go lifestyles, not to mention morning sickness, it’s not always possible for pregnant women to eat the perfect diet every day. It’s also worth noting that it’s more tricky to get enough nutrients like vitamin D3, choline, folate and iron solely from our diets. Supplements can supply extra nutrients specifically tailored to support the needs of pregnancy, so you know there won’t be any gaps in your nutrition.
There’s no bad time to start, but the ideal time is three to six months prior to your pregnancy to help you reach optimal nutrient levels before you’re pregnant. Those initial first weeks are critical, so taking a pregnancy supplement early can have a positive impact.
Yes, it can be used in all three trimesters. Alongside a balanced diet, supplementation throughout your pregnancy is important not only for the healthy development of your baby, but also to support your own nutritional status.
Yes. The nutrients included in the Inessa Pregnancy Multinutrient formula are beneficial for breastfeeding, as nutrients pass through to the baby via breast milk. The nutrients of particular value during breastfeeding are vitamin D, iodine and choline, all of which are included in the Pregnancy Multinutrient supplement. We’d also advise breastfeeding mothers to take an ultra pure Omega 3 supplement, such as Inessa Advanced Omega 3.
Yes, and it’s a really good idea to keep taking it up to a year post-birth. During pregnancy and breastfeeding your body prioritises delivering nutrients to the growing baby. It is not uncommon for mother’s to suffer from postnatal depletion which can fuel post-birth fatigue and may lead to other health problems.
While it contains all the pregnancy vitamins and micronutrients you need to fill any gaps in your diet, we would recommend taking a high-quality, ultra pure Omega 3 supplement containing decent amounts of DHA and EPA. Whether you’re pregnant or breast-feeding, these essential fatty acids are so essential to your baby’s brain and nervous system that your body prioritises your own reserves of DHA and EPA for your baby, leaving you at risk of depletion.
Take 2 capsules per day with food, or as recommended by a healthcare professional. Do not exceed the recommended intake. Do not use as a substitute for a varied diet and healthy lifestyle.
Women with known genetic mutations resulting in poor uptake of folic acid should seek specialist medical advice as they may benefit from significantly higher doses than the general population.
